theWaxhole.com - Weekly Wax Vol 17 Mixed by Joseph Noctum

WeeklyWax.jpg

So what do you do when you are working with a kickass music blog and the DJ who is supposed to be dropping a guest mix for the blog drops an email the night before saying it won’t be done? You step up to the plate. That’s what this is a pinch-hit. With nothing really in the pipeline because my sets hadn’t really been in line with the Future Bass sound The Waxhole and crew had been pushing I decided to grab tracks the blog had recently posted and do a quick 30 min studio mix for the team. It worked and brought me into a new mindset to work more Future Bass into my sets. This was also a catalyst for a weekly feature I started with Waxhole called “Fourplay Fridays” which featured four new sexy and chilled-out Future Bass songs every week. I even eventually returned in Volume 27 of the Weekly Wax and did a whole hour set tunes featured on Fourplay Fridays.

“Tracklist:
1. What So Not - Touched
2. Minnesota - To The Floor
3. Lorde - Tennis Court (Flume Remix)
4. MØ feat. Diplo - XXX88 (Joe Hertz Remix)
5. Jagwar Ma - Uncertainty (Charles Murdoch Remix)
6. Simian Mobile Disco - I Believe
7. Froxic - Floating Point
8. Tom Aspaul - Indiana (Bronze Whale Remix)”

Joseph Noctum - Pyropolis 20X: Texas Tango

0249-f721-400e-8f0e-4b86fd51e7e5.jpg

2010 Was a busy year for shows and performances. As the build up came from a few years in “retirement” once I was unleashed there was so much music to catch up on it became one of my busier years. In preparation for my first Burning Flipside, a BurningMan offshoot event in Texas, I learned the hard way to transition from vinyl to USB DJ’ing. The result was my first outing in the city of Pyropolis and throwing down set after set for the Texas Tango. It is a compilation of a weeks worth of shows played. With plenty of sound camps to play at including, Carpe Noctem, Alpha Rhythms, and Winners Circle. Every track here was dropped at some point although maybe not in this order.

“Tracklist:
1. Chemical Brothers Featuring The Flaming Lips - The Golden Path (Ewan Pearson Heaven Remix)
2. Moby - Raining Again (Ewan Pearson Vocal)
3. Basement Jaxx - Raindrops (Funkagenda & Paul Thomas Re-dux)
4. Miike Snow - Silvia (Hook N Sling & Goodwill Remix)
5. Classixx - Cold Act Ill (Wolfgang Gartner Club Mix)
6. Moby - I Love to Move In Here (Seamus Haji Remix)
7. TV Rock - Flaunt It (Main Room Mix)
8. Studio B - I See Girls (Tom Neville Crazy Legs Mix)
9. Cortinas & Wade - You Got It
10. Audio Bullys - Only Man (RESET! Remix)
11. Sharam Jey feat. Cornelia - Army Of Men (Dirty Disco Youth Remix)”

Joseph Noctum - Changes

Changes.jpg

Originally released in late 2004 / early 2005 this mix was a point of stepping outside the box. No longer was I just a Deep/Progressive House DJ, but this was stepping out into other genres that would pave the way for sounds today. We have remastered this mix to bring it up to today’s dancefloor standards.

“Tracklist:
1. Amillionsons Presents 21st Century Planet Smashers Featuring Eddy Temple Morris - Underground Night Music [Renisance]
2. Shmuel Flash - Merc (J-Groove Remix) [Release Grooves]
3. Black Atlantic - No Need To Hide [Forensic]
4. Fluke - Slid (King Of Cool Redub) [White]
5. Cirrus - Beatrix (Joseph Noctum Remix) [unreleased]
6. Phunk Police - Falling Stars [Looq]
7. Deepsky - Talk Like A Stranger (Burufunk Remix) [Yo]
8. Lee Coombs & Dylan Rhymes - All Night All Right [Fingerlickin]
9. Craig Obey And The Electrik Force - Coolin @ The Bar (Aviators Remix) [Hussle]
10. Eric Prydz - Lesson One [Pryda]
11. Client - Radio (Rex The Dog Remix) [Mute / Toast]
12. Starkid - Crayons 2004 (Leama & Moor In Loving Memory Remix) [Release Elements]”

Joseph Noctum - Uprooted

Uprooted.jpg

This was a result of travels in Europe and picking up the early ElectroClash records which was the precursor to Electro House. Also during this time influence of a tribal house crew, two prolific progressive house producers, and the punkish feelings of youth. The result is a cross-section of my early twenties in a mix. It’s gritty, drum-heavy, and one big party.

“Tracklist:
1. DJ Tocadisco - Nobody Likes The Records That I Play (Nobones Drum Dub) - [superstar]
2. Kwirky - Loose It - [binary]
3. Neurotic Jock vs. Cam Farrar - Tribal Beats (Luke Bowditch remix) - [sondos]
4. Peace Division - No More subliminal Shit - [Low Pressings]
5. Heavy Rock - I just Wanna Be A Drummer - [superstar]
6. Infusion - Girls Can Be Crule - [Audio Therapy]
7. Alex Neri - Club Element - [Tenax]
8. Silver Sonic - Electric Disco Tease - [Azuli Black]
9. The Chemical Brothers - Get Your Self High (Noctum Drum Dub) - [Astralwerks]
10. Santos - Too Fast - [Mantra Vibes]
11. Michael Jackson - Scream (Troia Remix) - [White Lable]
12. Hujja and Pufo - Fire (Marco Bellini & Val Weller Remix) - [Plastica Red]
13. The Mud Men - Mud Chant (Ba Digga Dub) - [Renaissance]
14. Locodice - Phat Dope Shit (Saeed Remix) - [FourTwenty]”
