Edinburgh Trip Day 4 - Yesterday was much better. After getting a proper amount of rest I felt like I could take on the world. I woke up early and followed my morning routine of getting ready and walking to the Tram. It was a beautiful morning and the sun was peaking over the horizon. Yes, I was graced with Sun in Scotland. Evidently, that is a rare thing. I had my sunglasses on as I typically do for all my commutes and when I turned down Princes Street I realized something. My sunglasses made me stick out like a sore thumb. Even though it was a bright morning no one had on sunglasses. I later in the day asked my co-workers if they even owned a pair of sunglasses and they all said no.
I had breakfast in the "daily" at work, another roll with eggs and ham. I also discovered something in the drink fridge here at work. Rockstar makes a "Energy Water" very similar to the Hi-Ball in Austin. I think I've exclaimed "why don't we have this in Austin?", about once an hour since I've been here.
Work was good and efficient that day. Lots of meetings and trainings. I was impressed with the progress we made, and figured out some solutions for new things that will be coming down the pipeline.
I headed back to the apartment happy and with a mission because I had a model who was actually showing up. While tidying up from the range of stuff that I had spread around the apartment I figured out a few things. One I discovered how to make the Sonos system work. Streaming music to any room in the house was pretty awesome. (Why don't I have one of these systems at home?). I also finally figured out how to turn on the radiators in the house and the fireplace. Which was handy as it got down to 37 fahrenheit here last night. (or 3 degrees celsius if I'm using the local temp)
Although the apartment I'm staying in is part of the original New Town development which means it was built somewhere around 1767 ~ 1775. The stone is quite thick and Even though it gets cold outside the inside remains very well insulated. The whole area I'm in is a very well thought out architectural achievement thought out by James Craig. To this day it remains the largest ‘Georgian’ city area in the world.
So my friend / the model who arrived was like meeting an old friend for the first time. A lot of similarities in lifestyle, and tastes it was very enjoyable company. We got to shooting right a way and before I knew it we had spent hours talking, laughing and shooting. We decided to take a break and partake in some of the delicious veggie dinner that she had brought. We probably stayed up way too late but we where having too good of a time. We are hanging out again and going to the Portrait Gallery tonight.
